Auckland was our entry point into New Zealand. Also known as the city of sails it is metropolitan city in the country. It is a coastal city with mall and markets, quite a few gardens and a student population who likes to party. It has one third of the population of New Zealand, once you now this you realise how sparsely populated rest of the country is. For a full view of the city you can visit the sky tower, which accompanies a mall with fine dine restaurants and a casino.
The City has nice beautiful suburb which is lined on one side by the calm sea. We reached Auckland on 18th of Dec, 2019, we had a one night stay there at Abaco on Jervois and we loved the place. As we had only one day stay at Auckland we chose to visit only two place. First was the sky tower, though the place is on a costlier side but what so ever it is a must visit. I will suggest visit the place in the evening and stay till it closes, we did the same. In the evening the city skyline made up of the roof tops and sky meeting the sea at place, creates a breathtaking view from the top of the tower. When the sun sets you the city lit up like a cosmopolitan, so symmetrical and so beautiful. Second place to visit would be one of the few gardens that the city has. You can interact with locals sitting there. The city also has a zoo and a sea life aquarium that we didn’t visit.
Generally a one day stay in Auckland is enough as the country has much more to offer than a harbour city, but if you are staying for one more day you can go to Waiheke Island which is about one and a half hours from the the city on a ferry. Bottom line is Auckland can be your entry point to the island nation where you can relax for one day, visit a few places and get rid of your jet lag.
