Male > Vadoo Island
Total Duration : 5 Days | FEB 2021
Like every other country on the planet, Maldives was also in our travel list and it ranked much higher. Though Maldives would have not been our obvious choice for next vacation but the pandemic left us with very few options. The only other viable option was UAE, when compared, Maldives made much more sense to visit during the Valentines. When we think about Maldives, the scene that we create in our mind has blue water, white sandy beaches and palm trees, Maldives offers all the above and much more.
The first thing to mention will be the hospitality, the experience that one will have in most of the resorts at Maldives is one of the finest. Though a little expensive the island resorts are dens of luxuries. We stayed at Adaaran Prestige Vadoo, in the private Vadoo island just 15 minutes away from the Male airport on a speed boat. The island is pristine, people have really tried hard to keep it as natural as possible. We booked an over water villa and it was awesome. It had a private pool, an open air jacuzzi, a staircase that opened into the sea and the most fascinating experience was a glass section on the floor through which you can see the seafloor.
Maldives is one of those places where you go to relax, where you breath with the sea and feel the compassion with which god has created our planet. People often opt for water sports but given the serenity of the place we will suggest nothing more than snorkelling. These private islands serve the sole purpose of breathing deep and cleaning your mind and soul. In the night you sit in the open sections and listen to the stars talking to you. At times the silence is interrupted by some fish splashing in the water few feet below. Strolling on the beach during the sunrise and walking on the over water bridges while the sun sets are the activities we preferred over speed boat rides.
Last but not the least, food was good. Not that Maldivian cuisine has anything special to offer but whatever served was excellent. Only thing Maldivian that we ate was Roshi (Maldivian roti) which was accompanied with Goan fish curry. I could not find a distinct Identity of the place which I can write as the bottom line, may be god created these islands to blend into our heart and souls without leaving a distinct mark of their own.
