Gurgaon > Dehradun > Mussoorie > Rishikesh > Haridwar > Sahastradhara > Gurgaon
Total Duration : 5 Days | March 2020
We went on this trip just before the lockdown due to corona virus kicked in. This was also our first road trip in India that too on our newly bought MG Hector. We started early in the morning from Gurgaon to Dehradun so that we have ample time to enjoy the drive and also reach our destination before sunset. We already had our Air BnB booked near Malsi, which was situated at a very calm and in the lap of nature location but first food on the highway.
Namaste Midway is a perfect spot for your one stop driving break point. Placed just midway to and fro en route to majestic Haridwar, Rishikesh , Dehradun and Queen of Hills Mussoorie. It is a blend of modern and traditional Indian culture. Must visit Chai Ka Nukkad and Namaste India, a true showcase of Indian culture, cuisines and Handicrafts .
We reached Dehradun in the afternoon, finding the Air BnB was little difficult but it was worth it. It is built amid the lush greens on the mountains alley. The place is called Oxygen Home Stay, the room are value for money, view from the balcony is good, also it has a nice garden with small fish pond and variety of local trees. It is a nice place to sit and relax.
4-5 days are more than enough to visit places in and around Dehradoon but you can go and relax in the hills for any number of days. On the first day we visited Mussoorie, it is very serene place, has a good market place and a waterfall to boast about. Best place to visit would be George Everest’s House on the hill top. It is a 30-45 min hike on the way to Mussoorie and has best views of the snow capped Himalayas. We really loves the place, to add to its beauty was the sunlight weather that day.
The next day we went to Rishikesh and Haridwar, both places are sites of religious value for Hindus, one can do temple hoping which we also did but the best part was sitting beside the Ganga river. The symphony of the ice cold water flowing fast beneath your feet has a mesmerising charm. The place is always crowded will foreigners seeking for Hindu mysticism. On our last day we visited Sahastradhara. It is truly the site of thousand streams, filled with terraced water falls, caves and a few hot springs, the place is worth visiting. The bottom line is if one likes breath taking views surrounded by mighty mountains and freshness of pure nature, these are the perfect holiday destinations.
Note : Even if you drive to Dehradun on your own car, when you go to Mussoorie, hire a local driver because roads are not good, traffic jam is an issue and getting parking spot in and around tourist sites is difficult.
