We planned out our honeymoon in New Zealand and Australia and we could not have made a better choice. Thanks to the dates we got married on, Europe being too cold was not a very good choice. We planned the travel dates such that both Christmas and New year celebrations added delight to our first travel together.
Travelling via china we first reached New Zealand on 18th Dec. Much to the name of being the most beautiful country, New Zealand charmed us with her breath taking natural beauty and awesome people. Summer in island nation offered lush green meadows being grazed by woolly sheep. Thankfully we took a self drive car, driving through the natural beauty to the coastal roads, deep blue lakes and coves at the shore were experiences difficult to be matched in a life time. Apart from the greenery and the blue water, we witnessed volcanoes, caves with glowing worms and the beautiful southern alps. To Add to the natural beauty the place has a rich Mauri Heritage. We spent 11 days in both the north and the south island. We guess that very few countries will match New Zealand 🙂
After being mesmerised by New Zealand, we reached Australia. It was a short 6 days trip, intending to start the year 2020 beneath the Sydney bridge. In addition to visiting the cities of Melbourne and Sydney we drove through the great ocean roads till the Apollo Bay. While New Zealand was mostly natural beauty, Melbourne and Sydney astonished us with man made magnificences. Visiting the Sea life Aquarium at Melbourne and Taronga Zoo in Sydney acquainted us with magnificent creatures like the Penguin, Seals, Comodo dragon and many more but the best part of our visit to Australia was Mid Night New Year Eve celebration at the Sydney Harbour. Starting at 6 in the evening and ending with the fireworks in the midnight, it was by far the best New year eve of my life. Fire work over the bridge and the opera house can never be over rate.
May this honeymoon phase never end 😉
